The General is an American muscle car that was produced from 1963 to 1974 by General Motors. It was a competitor of the Shelby Cobra and Chevrolet Camaro, as well as other muscle cars of its time. In fact, it did not have enough appeal for Chrysler or Ford to continue production after 1973; however, it still remained popular with enthusiasts until the end of its run in 1974.
The first generation model went on sale in 1963 and consisted of three trim levels: base ($3200), Custom ($3800), and Super Sport ($4400). Each trim came with two engines: a 210hp V8 engine (optionally equipped with dual exhausts) or a 283cu/in Magnum engine with 375hp. The latter option could be ordered without air conditioning.
The first version of the car was a two-door hardtop with a large, wide hood and a fiberglass appearance package. It was available in 2 door, 4 door and station wagon body styles.

The production of the car started in 1963 and ended in 1973. The car was produced for a total of 9 years, and during that time it went through several body styles, engine configurations and trim levels.

The first generation Camaro was introduced to the public in April 1967. It came with an inline 6-cylinder engine that produced 250 horsepower. The body style was very similar to the Ford Mustang because Chevrolet wanted to compete with them on their terms so they could sell more cars.
The station wagon was the most popular body style because it offered versatility. You could use the 4 door or 2 door version as you needed and they were both very practical in their own way. The four-door models were perfect for families who needed to carry large amounts of cargo or people who wanted to carry more than one person at a time. They also provided plenty of room inside, even when fully loaded down with everything you could possibly want (or need).
The station wagon was a great option for families who needed to haul lots of stuff around. It also made it easier to transport children because you could put them in the back seat and still have plenty of room in front for passengers. The station wagon was also very practical, especially since it came with features like power windows and locks as well as air-conditioning.
The General has been a staple in the automotive industry for over 100 years. The model has been built and re-built many times over its life span, with many variations being created over that time period including coupes, convertibles, hardtops and land cruisers among others.
The GGN or "General" nameplate is synonymous with American luxury vehicles since it was first introduced by Willy's Body Shop in 1931 as an inexpensive alternative to European imports like Mercedes-Benz or BMWs at that time. It quickly became popular among buyers who could afford them but still wanted something special for their driving pleasure--namely speed!
The General was available with a total of five different engine configurations between 1963 and 1973. However, this does not mean that every General ever made had these engines. Some may have been fitted with other engines, such as the V8 or aluminum-block V8s; and some were fitted with 4-speed automatics instead of 5-speeds like most people think they are.
The first engine was the 250 cubic inch V8. This was the smallest and least powerful of the engines available. It had a one barrel carburetor, and produced 145 horsepower at 4800 rpm. The next engine was a 305 cubic inch V8 with 2-barrel carburetor; it produced 165 horsepower at 5200 rpm. The third configuration was a 325 cubic inch V8 with 4-barrel carburetor and dual exhausts; this engine produced 210 horsepower at 5400 rpm.
The most powerful engine was the 350 cubic inch V8. This engine was only available in 1969, and had a 4-barrel carburetor, dual exhausts and produced 235 horsepower at 5800 rpm. The engines were all fitted with either an automatic or manual transmission depending on which model you ordered. They also came in 2-door hardtops, convertibles with a removable top or soft top, as well as 4-door sedans.
